When you reach an agreement regarding financial and/or children related matters, it is important to ask the Family Court to make “Consent Orders”. Before doing this, it is wise to speak with a family lawyer to ensure both your interests, and those of your children, are being protected.
Consent Orders address issues such as financial settlements (property and assets), spousal maintenance and parenting orders.
If you are unable to reach a resolution regarding child related matters, you may be unable to begin proceedings in the Family Court until you attend mediation with a Family Dispute Resolution Professional.
